About
Hemlock Haven Loop Cabins occupy a scenic loop within the Hemlock Haven Conference Center at Hungry Mother State Park, one of Virginia's six original state parks established in 1936 by the Civilian Conservation Corps. The facility sits on 35 acres at elevations ranging from 2,200 to 3,270 feet, providing cool mountain conditions and access to the park's 3,334 total acres. Each cabin sleeps 6-8 people and includes two to four bedrooms, full bathrooms, and fully equipped kitchens with refrigerator, stove, microwave, coffeemaker, and cookware. Central heat and air conditioning ensure year-round comfort. Outdoor amenities include charcoal grills, picnic tables, and fire rings. Guests must bring their own linens (sheets, blankets, towels). Pets are permitted for an additional nightly fee. The park's 108-acre lake offers fishing (largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, crappie, catfish, walleye, musky), a seasonally guarded swimming beach, and non-motorized boat rentals. Over 17 miles of hiking and biking trails wind through the property. Shared facilities include tennis courts, basketball, volleyball, horseshoe pits, and a seasonal camp store.
