Hemlock Haven Loop Cabins

Open — The conference center is open year-round except Christmas Day. Cabins require a six-night minimum stay Memorial Day through Labor Day, reduced to four nights minimum three months out and two nights in the final month before arrival. Reservations are made through the Virginia State Parks reservation system.

Located within Hungry Mother State Park in Smyth County, Hemlock Haven Loop Cabins are part of Virginia's first state park conference center. The facility includes Cabins 21-25 near the end of the loop, plus additional cabins including Chestnut, Hickory, White Oak, Red Oak, Scarlet Oak, and Sycamore. Each cabin sleeps 6-8 people and features two to four bedrooms, full bathrooms, fully-equipped kitchens, central heat and air, outdoor grills, picnic tables, and fire rings. Hemlock Haven sits on 35 acres at elevations ranging from 2,200 to 3,270 feet, providing access to Hungry Mother State Park's 108-acre lake, sandy swimming beach, boat rentals, fishing pier, hiking and biking trails, and visitor center. The conference center complex includes meeting facilities, sports amenities like tennis courts, basketball courts, softball field, and volleyball courts. Overnight guests can swim at no charge during operating hours and enjoy interpretive programs offered by the park. The surrounding area offers proximity to Mount Rogers National Recreation Area, Grayson Highlands State Park, Jefferson National Forest, and Clinch Mountain Wildlife Management Area. Historic attractions in nearby Marion include the Lincoln Theater and Historic General Francis Marion Hotel.

Directions

From Interstate 81, take Exit 47. Travel approximately one mile on Route 11 toward Marion. Turn right on Route 16 north and travel four miles to Hungry Mother State Park. Turn right from Route 16 onto East Hungry Mother Drive. Continue for about one-quarter mile, then take the first left onto Hemlock Haven Lane. Follow the road to the office and cabin loop at 380 Hemlock Haven Lane, Marion, VA 24354.
