About

Burson Electric/Water is part of the Camp Burson camping area at Hungry Mother State Park, one of Virginia's original six state parks established in 1936. Located in the Blue Ridge Highlands near Marion, the park surrounds the 108-acre Hungry Mother Lake and offers excellent opportunities for fishing, swimming, and paddling. The campground provides 20 sites equipped with electric and water hookups, accepting 20, 30, and 50-amp service. Each campsite includes a fire ring and picnic table on a gravel pad. The campground shares bathhouse facilities with flush toilets, hot showers, and seasonal laundry service. A dump station is available on-site. Most sites accommodate RVs between 25 and 35 feet, though some larger sites are available for bigger rigs. The campground is primarily back-in sites with limited pull-through options. The park features over 17 miles of hiking trails, a sandy beach, boat rentals, and a camp store. Hungry Mother is known for its striking mountain scenery and the legend of Molly Marley, whose haunting story gave the park its name.
