About
Burson Electric/Water campground is part of Camp Burson at Hungry Mother State Park, one of Virginia's original six state parks. The campground features 20 sites with electric and water hookups on gravel pads. Most sites accommodate RVs between 25-35 feet, though larger sites are available for bigger rigs. The campground offers 20, 30, and 50-amp electrical service with mostly back-in sites and limited pull-through options. Tent campers are welcome but should bring an air mattress as sites are gravel, and tents must be set up within marked site borders, not on grass. The campground is open year-round and is located approximately 1.5 miles before Hungry Mother State Park's main entrance. Guests must drive or hike to the main park area to access amenities like the 108-acre lake, swimming beach, boat rentals, hiking trails, and the Discovery Center. Each campsite includes a round fire ring for cooking and campfires, and firewood is available for purchase. The Camp Burson office operates as a camp store from Memorial Day through Labor Day with extended weekend hours through October, offering snacks, gifts, and camping supplies. A bathhouse with showers and seasonal laundry facilities serves the campground.
