About
Hot Springs Campground is located just east of Garden Valley, Idaho along the Banks-Lowman Highway (Wildlife Canyon Scenic Byway) in the Boise National Forest. At 3,200 feet elevation, the campground sits at the foot of a forested hillside with towering ponderosa pines providing partial shade. The main draw is a natural hot springs soaking pool located directly across the highway, accessible via a staircase down to the river's edge. The campground offers 8 single-family sites available on a first-come, first-served basis, plus 3 large group sites reservable through Recreation.gov. Group Sites 1 and 2 can accommodate up to 200 people with a maximum of 25 vehicles each, while Site 3 accommodates up to 50 people with 10 vehicles. All sites have vault toilets, potable water, picnic tables, grills, and campfire circles with benches. The group sites are ADA accessible. The South Fork Payette River flows just across the road, providing excellent opportunities for fishing, whitewater rafting, and kayaking. Numerous other natural hot springs pools can be found along the Banks-Lowman Highway. Due to proximity to the highway, some traffic noise is to be expected.
Directions
