About

For visitors seeking to escape the bustle of the nearby Big Bear valley, Horse Springs Campground offers a secluded retreat in the San Bernardino National Forest. Surrounded by a high desert environment, this small campground is a cluster of juniper and pine trees with sweeping mountain views in all directions. The campground features 11 single-family campsites, with varying amounts of shade from full coverage to little or none. This location is particularly popular with OHV enthusiasts, positioned close to designated green-sticker routes and adjacent to the BLM Juniper Flats district. The remote setting, approximately 12 miles north of Fawnskin and Big Bear Lake, provides a true backcountry experience. Campers should come prepared as the campground has no potable water or restroom facilities. Each site includes a picnic table and firepit. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with payment via cash or check using the on-site envelope system or Recreation.gov mobile app Scan and Pay feature.
