Open for the 2026 season from April 17 through October 4. 23 sites are reservable via Recreation.gov; 5 sites are first-come, first-served. High clearance vehicles required. RVs are not recommended due to rough road conditions. Bears are active; use provided bear boxes.

About
Crab Flats Campground is located in the pine and oak-covered mountains of San Bernardino National Forest, offering a secluded escape for off-road enthusiasts. At 5,920 feet elevation and about 8 miles from Green Valley Lake, the campground provides access to numerous OHV trails including Redonda Ridge Trail, Holcomb Valley Road, and the Crab Flat Loop. The Crab Creek Trail connects to nearby Fisherman's Campground. The campground features 28 single sites nestled among tall pines, oaks, and cedars. Each site includes a fire ring with grill, picnic table, and bear box for food storage. Vault toilets are available, but there is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. RVs are not recommended due to the rough, narrow access road that crosses Deep Creek with significant washouts and potholes. Green Valley Lake offers fishing, boating, and swimming about 6 miles away. The area also supports snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in winter months when the campground is closed.
Directions
From Running Springs, travel toward Arrowbear on Green Valley Road. Turn left and drive approximately 4 miles to the Crab Flats Campground sign. Turn left and continue about 4 miles to the campground. Do not follow Google Maps all the way to Green Valley.
