* WHAT...Two rounds of heavy snow possible. For first round Monday, 4-9 inches expected between 6000-7000 ft, 9-14 inches expected 7000-8000 ft, and up to 20 inches above 8000 ft. Winds could gust 60 to 70 mph, with the strongest winds on the desert slopes of the mountains. There may be breaks in snow showers or lighter snow during the day Tuesday, with a second round of heavy snow and gusty winds Wednesday into Thursday morning. * WHERE...San Bernardino County Mountains. * WHEN...From Monday morning through Thursday morning. * IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow. Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning and evening commutes. Strong winds could cause tree damage. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...For the first round Monday, snow levels will start around 6500 ft and fall to near 5000 ft. Lower snow levels possible below 4,000 feet for the next round on Wednesday.

Crab Flats Campground sits 8 miles from Green Valley Lake in the San Bernardino National Forest, offering a primitive camping experience tailored to off-road vehicle enthusiasts. The campground features 28 sites total, with 23 reservable sites accommodating RVs up to 26 feet and 5 first-come, first-served sites. Each site includes a picnic table, campfire ring with grill, and bear box. The setting among tall pines, oaks, and cedar trees provides a secluded mountain escape. The area is renowned for its extensive network of OHV trails suitable for various skill levels. The Crab Creek Trail connects to nearby Fisherman's Campground with exceptional scenery, while the 9.7-mile Redonda Ridge Trail and 26-mile Holcomb Valley Road offer longer adventures. The Crab Flat Loop trail begins west of the campground. Mountain biking and hiking opportunities abound throughout the surrounding forest. Access requires caution: the campground is reached via a narrow dirt road (Forest Road 3N16) that crosses Deep Creek and may contain washouts and potholes. High-clearance vehicles are necessary, and large RVs are not recommended. Green Valley Lake, approximately 6 miles away, provides additional recreation including boating, fishing, and swimming in its regularly stocked 9-acre lake. Winter visitors can enjoy snowshoeing and cross-country skiing when conditions permit.
Directions
From Running Springs, travel toward Arrowbear to Green Valley Road. Turn left and drive approximately 4 miles to the Crab Flats Campground sign. Turn left and continue about 4 miles on Forest Road 3N16, which is a narrow dirt road that crosses Deep Creek. High-clearance vehicles required.
