About

Tent Peg Group Campground offers a semi-primitive location for extended family or large group outings in the San Bernardino National Forest. Situated in the mountains of Southern California between Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear Lake, the campground sits in a mature forest of pine, oak, and cedar trees providing ample shade. The site accommodates up to 30 people with a maximum of 5 vehicles and is tent-only camping. The area is an off-road vehicle paradise with trails for both beginning and experienced riders. Nearby trails include Crab Creek (which crosses Deep Creek), the 9.7-mile Redonda Ridge Trail to the east, the 26-mile Holcomb Valley Road to the west, and the Crab Flat Loop Route. Hikers can explore the 4.5-mile Hawes Peak Trail with exceptional forest scenery, or the Crab Creek Trail that leads to Fisherman's Group Campground. In winter, these areas are popular for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Green Valley Lake is approximately six miles away, offering boating, fishing, and swimming opportunities. The 9-acre lake is regularly stocked with a variety of fish. The campground is located northwest of Green Valley Family Campground on Forest Service Road 3N16, about 1.5 miles past Crab Flats Campground.
