About
Tent Peg Group Campground offers a semi-primitive setting for extended families or large groups in the San Bernardino National Forest. Located at 5,800 feet elevation in a mature forest of pine, oak, and cedar trees, the campground sits between Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear Lake. The single group site can accommodate 30-40 people with multiple picnic tables, a group campfire circle, and BBQ grills. The area is popular with off-road vehicle enthusiasts, with trails including Crab Creek, the 9.7-mile Redonda Ridge Trail, and the 26-mile Holcomb Valley Road nearby. Hikers can access the 4.5-mile Hawes Peak Trail and the Crab Creek Trail leading to Fisherman's Group Campground. Green Valley Lake, approximately six miles away, offers boating, fishing, and swimming. This is a bring-your-own-water campground with vault toilets and trash service. Access is via rough Forest Service Road 3N16 northwest of Green Valley Family Campground. RVs are not recommended due to road conditions; high clearance vehicles are strongly advised.
Directions
Take Highway 38 through Running Springs and Arrowbear to Green Valley Road. Continue approximately 2 miles past Crab Flats Campground on Forest Service Road 3N16. High clearance vehicle recommended.
