* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. For first round Monday into early Tuesday, 6-10 inches expected between 6000-7000 ft, 10-18 inches expected 7000-8000 ft, and up to 30 inches above 8000 ft. South winds gusting to 40-60 mph on the ridges and desert slopes. Occasional light snow showers Tuesday. Widespread moderate snow late Tuesday into Wednesday morning, with additional totals 8-15 inches between 6000-7500 ft. Light snow showers expected Thursday. Stronger southwest winds with gusts in excess of 70 mph along the desert slopes possible late Tuesday and Wednesday. A few additional inches of snow expected Thursday. * WHERE...San Bernardino County Mountains. * WHEN...From 10 AM Monday to 9 AM PST Thursday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning and evening commutes. Very strong winds could cause extensive tree damage. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...For the first round Monday, snow levels will start around 6800-7500 ft and fall to near 5000 ft by early Tuesday morning. Snow levels lowering to around 4000 ft Wednesday morning. Impacts to I-15 near the summit of the Cajon Pass possible Wednesday morning and Thursday morning.

Hanna Flat Campground is a family-friendly facility nestled in the pine-covered San Bernardino Mountains at approximately 7,000 feet elevation. The campground provides an escape for visitors seeking a more primitive camping experience while still offering essential amenities. Despite being located only two miles off California Highway 38 north of the town of Fawnskin, Hanna Flat delivers solitude, fresh pine-scented air, and cool star-filled nights under a dense canopy of Jeffrey pine trees. The campground serves as an excellent base for hiking and mountain biking. The moderate Hanna Flat Trail offers a 7.8-mile roundtrip journey to the top of Gray's Peak, with access to the Pacific Crest Trail within 1.5 miles at the Holcomb Creek crossing. Ten miles of unmarked trails lead to Coxcomb Creek. Big Bear Lake, just a short drive away, provides fishing opportunities for trout, bluegill, crappie, catfish, and largemouth bass, as well as boating access. The final 2.5 miles of access road is rough dirt terrain that may be impassable for large RVs or trailers. With summer high temperatures rarely exceeding 90 degrees and nights dropping into the 50s to 65-degree range, the elevation provides a comfortable mountain camping experience. Each campsite includes a fire ring, picnic table, and bear box. The campground is operated by Vista Recreation with an on-site host and firewood available for purchase.
Directions
From Redlands, take I-10 East to University Street exit, turn left on University Street, right onto E. Lugonia Avenue/SR-38. Continue on Highway 38 to Big Bear, turn left onto E. Big Bear Blvd./SR-38, right onto Greenway Drive/CA-18/SR-38, then left onto North Shore Drive/SR-38. Continue to Fawnskin and veer right onto Rim of the World Drive past County Fire Station 96. After pavement ends, the road becomes Forest Road 3N14. Continue 2.5 miles on rough dirt road to campground on the left. The dirt access road may be impassable for large RVs or trailers.
