About
Fishermans Group Campground is a semi-primitive, hike-in only facility located along the scenic banks of Deep Creek in the San Bernardino National Forest. The campground consists of 4 separate group sites, each accommodating up to 8 people, accessible via a 2.5-mile trail from the designated parking area off Forest Road 3N34. At approximately 7,000 feet elevation, the campground is surrounded by tall pine, oak, and cedar trees. The campground offers a true backcountry experience with basic amenities including vault toilets, fire rings, picnic tables, and one bear-proof trash container. No potable water or hookups are available. The designated parking area can accommodate 8 vehicles. Horses are permitted, though no corrals or water are provided for stock. Popular activities include hiking, fishing in Deep Creek, birdwatching, wildlife viewing, hunting, and photography. The Crab Creek Trail provides the primary access route. Access via Forest Road 3N16 is well-maintained during summer months but can have significant snow during winter and early spring. The road passes Crab Flats Campground and Tent Peg Group Campground before reaching the trailhead. Campers should be prepared for primitive conditions and pack out all trash beyond what fits in the provided bear-proof container.
Directions
