Due to rising lake levels, individual campsites will be closing for season based their elevation compared to the current and predicted lake levels. This is an annual occurrence, and sites will reopen for reservations once they are out of the water and are ready for use. We appreciate your understanding and patience. Stay tuned for updates, and we look forward to welcoming you back soon! If you have any questions, please call the Lake Kaweah headquarters office at 559-597-2301.

About

Horse Creek Campground is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers facility located on the Kaweah River at Lake Kaweah, three miles east of Lemon Cove in California's Sierra Nevada foothills. The campground contains approximately 80 sites without hookups, each equipped with a picnic table, fire ring, and grate. Facilities include flush toilets, showers, and a dump station. Weekend ranger programs are held May through September in the campground amphitheater. Lake Kaweah offers excellent recreation opportunities including boating, water skiing, sailing, and fishing for largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, catfish, and rainbow trout. Horse and walking trails become available during low water periods. The campground is situated in a broad, arid valley with few trees, so shade is limited. The campground is 11 miles from Sequoia National Park's southern entrance station, providing access to the Giant Forest Grove and General Sherman Tree. Note that vehicles over 22 feet cannot use Highway 198 through Sequoia National Park due to the narrow, switchback road; larger vehicles should use Highway 180 through Kings Canyon instead.
