Use of Bicycles on the Allegheny National Forest

Northern Goshawks are Protected Endangered Species

Northern goshawks are listed as endangered species in Pennsylvania.  It is unlawful under the Pennsylvania Game and Wildlife Code for anyone, including permitted falconers, to take a northern goshawk from the wild for any purpose.

Forest Order 09-19-21-02 Feeding of Wildlife Restriction

Feeding of wildlife on National Forest land is temporarily prohibited to prevent or slow the spread of Chronic Wasting Disease among white-tailed deer and mange among black bears.

Forest Order 09-19-17-24 Annual Tour de Forest

Every year on the weekend before Memorial Day weekend and the weekend before Columbus Day weekend, from Saturday at 12:01 am to 6:00 pm on Sunday certain roads and trails are closed to camping and/or driving for the Marienville Volunteer Fire Company's Tour de Forest.

Forest Order 09-19-17-22 Kelly Pines Campground

In Kelly Pines Campground, between May 1 and October 31, visitors cannot use campsites 3, 4, 5, 6 and/or 7 unless they are camping with saddle, pack and/or draft animals or traveling on the Spring Creek Horse Trail system with saddle, pack and/or draft animals.

Forest Order 09-19-17-19 Loleta Recreation Area

There is no fishing allowed in the designated swimming area of Loleta Recreation Area between May 1 and September 30.

At Twin Lakes it is prohibited to possess or operate a motorboat on the lake.Between May 1st and September 30th fishing is prohibited on the swimming beach, from the eastern-most buoy to the inlet of Hoffman Run.

At the Tionesta Reservoir it is prohibited to:camp within 1500 feet of the shore except at designated campsites.possessing a beverage which is defined by state law as an alcoholic beverage.

Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes. Hooks Brook Boat Access Campground is a rustic 11-acre campground nestled on the shoreline of the Allegheny Reservoir's west bank, just south of Webbs Ferry Boat Launch. Accessible only by boat, this primitive facility provides a secluded camping experience for boaters exploring the reservoir. The closest boat launches are Webbs Ferry, approximately 1 mile north on the west bank, and Willow Bay, also about 1 mile north on the east bank. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations accepted. Campers can pay the $12 per night fee on-site using cash, check, or by scanning a QR code with the Recreation.gov mobile app. The facility features vault toilets, fire rings, and picnic tables at each site, but visitors must bring their own water as no potable water source is available. Campfires are permitted in fire rings and must be fully extinguished when unattended. The location offers excellent wildlife viewing opportunities along the shoreline and convenient access to fishing, swimming, and boating on the Allegheny Reservoir. The reservoir provides 12,080 surface acres at summer pool with fishing opportunities for smallmouth bass, muskellunge, walleye, northern pike, yellow perch, channel catfish, and some brown trout. Quiet hours are observed from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am.

Directions

Accessible by boat only from Allegheny Reservoir. Nearest boat launches are Webbs Ferry (1 mile north on west bank) and Willow Bay (1 mile north on east bank). From Warren, take Market St. north to 2nd Ave, turn right onto W. 5th Ave. Continue 3.3 miles as it becomes Scandia Road. Travel 4.9 miles as Scandia becomes Warren-Olean Road. Continue 5 miles on Warren-Olean Road, then take the Forest Service Road to the right to reach Webbs Ferry boat launch.
