About

Morrison Boat Access Campground offers a secluded camping experience on the shores of the Allegheny Reservoir within the Allegheny National Forest. Located on the east bank at Morrison Bay, a branch off Kinzua Bay, this rustic campground is accessible only by boat or on foot. The nearest boat launch is Elijah Run, located directly west of the campground and accessible via the Longhouse National Scenic Byway (Forest Road 262). Hikers can reach the campground via the Morrison Hiking Trail, a 6-7 mile trek. The campground features 38 primitive campsites, each with a picnic table and fire ring. Vault toilets are available, but there is no potable water; campers must bring their own supply or filter water from the reservoir. Sites are first-come, first-served at $12 per night, payable via fee envelope or the Recreation.gov mobile app's Scan and Pay feature. Download the app before arrival as cellular service is limited or nonexistent. Recreation opportunities include motorized boating with no horsepower limit, swimming, fishing, and windsurfing on the reservoir. Quiet hours are 10:00 pm to 6:00 am. The campground operates seasonally from May 1 through October 31, though ice on the reservoir can make winter access difficult even outside the official season.

Directions

From Warren, travel south on Route 6/Crescent Park Drive for 2 miles. Turn left/east onto Route 59 and travel 9.8 miles. Turn right onto Longhouse National Scenic Byway and continue 4.4 miles to Elijah Run Boat Launch. From there, access the campground by boat across Morrison Bay.
