About

Morrison Boat Access Campground sits on 11 acres along the eastern shoreline of Morrison Bay, part of the Kinzua Bay arm of the Allegheny Reservoir. This rustic campground offers 38 primitive campsites that can only be reached by boat or on foot, providing a secluded camping experience surrounded by the forests of the Allegheny National Forest. Access by boat is via the Allegheny Reservoir, with Elijah Run Boat Launch serving as the closest put-in point, located directly across the bay on the Longhouse National Scenic Byway. For hikers, the Morrison Hiking Trail provides a 12.6-mile loop trail system with access to the campground, offering opportunities for multi-day backpacking trips. Each campsite includes a picnic table and fire ring. The campground has vault toilets and a self-service fee station, but no potable water is available on-site; campers must bring their own water or treat water from the reservoir. This is a first-come, first-served campground with no advance reservations. Payment can be made on-site using cash or check via fee envelopes, or through the Recreation.gov mobile app using the Scan and Pay feature. The campground operates seasonally and is closed during winter months due to ice conditions on the reservoir and limited access.
