Allegany State Park is New York's largest state park, encompassing over 65,000 acres of forested hills in the Allegheny Mountains near the Pennsylvania border. The park is divided into two main areas: the Quaker Area with Cain Hollow and Diehl Trail campgrounds, and the Red House Area with tent and trailer sites. Combined, the park offers 303 campsites, 336 cabins ranging from rustic to modern, 8 cottages, and two group camps. Campsite amenities include bath houses with hot showers, restrooms, potable water from spigots throughout the camping loops, and a dump station for RVs. Many sites feature 50 amp electric hookups. The park provides a convenience store, laundry facilities, and restaurant access. Recreation options are extensive: two swimming beaches, boat and bike rentals, fishing piers, tennis courts, playgrounds, and miles of hiking and horseback riding trails with interpretive programs. The Fancher Cottages in the Quaker Area are fully accessible year-round vacation rentals, while select cabins and cottages remain open beyond the main camping season. Pets are permitted with a maximum of 2 per site on leashes no longer than 6 feet, and current rabies vaccination proof is required at check-in.

Directions

From the north, take I-86 (Route 17) to Exit 18 (Red House Area) or Exit 19 (Quaker Area). From Pennsylvania, enter via Route 280 from Bradford.
