About
Holloway Day Use Pavilion is a reservable picnic pavilion located within Etoniah Creek State Forest in northern Putnam County. The 8,879-acre state forest offers diverse natural communities including scrub and flatwoods habitats, bottomland hardwoods, and rare plant species. The Holloway Day Use Area provides access to forest trails and is known for birding opportunities including Red-headed Woodpeckers, Great Crested Flycatchers, and Bachman's Sparrows. Etoniah Creek State Forest is part of the Florida National Scenic Trail and the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail. The forest offers multiple recreational activities including hiking, fishing, nature study, wildlife viewing, hunting, horseback riding, and photography. The area features several scenic streams including Etoniah Creek, Rice Creek, and Falling Branch that flow through bottomland hardwoods. This forest is the only known site for Conradina etonia, an endangered plant species.
