About

Etoniah Creek State Forest Green Camp is a small primitive campground tucked into northeastern Florida's pine flatwoods and sandhills. The six tent-only sites accommodate up to six people each and provide basic amenities: a fire ring with grate, picnic table, and access to a single vault toilet. No potable water or electricity is available, requiring campers to pack in all supplies. The surrounding 8,876-acre state forest spans Putnam County and offers extensive recreational opportunities. Four miles of the Florida National Scenic Trail pass through the property, and the paved Palatka-to-Lake Butler State Trail crosses the southern boundary. Birding is excellent here, as the forest is part of the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail. Horseback riding, fishing, and wildlife photography are popular activities. Seasonal hunting occurs within the forest, and visitors should wear blaze orange during hunt dates. Black bears are present, so all food must be stored in approved containers or locked in vehicles. Prescribed burns are conducted year-round, and fire bans may occasionally apply.
