About
Rodman Campground is a 64-site Florida State Park located on the shores of the 9,500-acre Rodman Reservoir, consistently ranked among Florida's Top 10 Trophy Bass Lakes. The campground sits approximately 9 miles southwest of Palatka off State Route 19 on Rodman Dam Road and was originally created during the 1960s-era Cross Florida Barge Canal project. The reservoir provides diverse habitat for trophy fish and numerous bird species, including endangered and threatened wading birds, waterfowl, and bald eagles, particularly during cooler months. Wildlife sightings include white-tailed deer, wild turkey, osprey, and American alligators, with manatees seasonally traveling through the reservoir. The campground offers 26 primitive tent sites and 38 sites with electric and water hookups. Amenities include full bathhouses in both campground loops, a dump station, picnic pavilions, and a two-lane boat ramp. The Florida National Scenic Trail runs adjacent to the campground, providing access to hiking and biking trails including a 5.1-mile trail eastward to Buckman Lock along the south shoreline of the Cross Florida Barge Canal.
Directions
From Jacksonville take US 17 South to Palatka. Turn right onto Highway 19 South. Follow 19 South and cross the Florida Barge Canal Bridge. At the bottom of the bridge turn right onto Rodman Dam Road. The campground is approximately 2 miles on the right.
