About

Hither Hills State Park campground sits on the Atlantic Ocean between Amagansett and Montauk on Long Island's South Fork. The 189-site campground stretches along a 2-mile sandy beach, offering direct ocean access for swimming (Memorial Day through Labor Day), surfing, and fishing. The park encompasses unique ecological features including the Walking Dunes of Napeague Harbor and woodlands of Russian olive, oak, shad, and pine. The campground is divided into East Area (Sunday arrivals) and West Area (Friday/Saturday arrivals), plus a tent-only J East Area. All sites are back-in style with equipment length limits of 20-30 feet depending on site. Four comfort stations provide hot showers and flush toilets. Additional facilities include a dump station, camp store, playground, basketball and volleyball courts, and access to a 40-acre freshwater lake. During peak season (mid-June through mid-September), only 7-night reservations are accepted, limited to one reservation per household. Off-peak season allows 2-night minimum stays. Campfires are prohibited during high season; in low season, fires must be contained in metal containers raised 6 inches off the ground.
