Burlingame State Park
Closed due to ongoing restroom construction project. The campground did not open for Memorial Day weekend 2026. Updates expected in early June with specific opening details. Phase 2 construction affecting Legiontown, Midpark South, and Main Camp areas is anticipated to complete by April 2027. Reduced campsite availability expected when the campground reopens.

An Air Quality Alert day means that Ground Level Ozone concentrations within the region may approach or exceed unhealthy standards. About
Burlingame State Campground is one of Rhode Island's largest camping facilities, situated along the shores of Watchaug Pond in Charlestown. The campground features approximately 600 standard back-in sites, 90 tent-only sites, 26 cabins, and a shelter. Sites accommodate RVs up to 89 feet, though no electric, water, or sewer hookups are provided at any location. The campground offers substantial amenities including flush restrooms with showers, a dump station, drinking water, a camp store with supplies and souvenirs, playground, arcade, and picnic tables. Recreation options include a freshwater beach for swimming, a boat ramp, canoe rentals, and access to hiking trails including the John Vincent Gormley Trail. Pets are welcome with up to two cats or dogs allowed per site. A current rabies vaccination certificate is required and must be available for inspection. During peak season, maximum stays are limited to 14 nights within any 21-day period.
