About

Burlingame State Park Campground is one of Rhode Island's largest camping facilities, located in the heart of a 2,100-acre park in Charlestown. The campground sits alongside Watchaug Pond and features approximately 700 rustic campsites including standard sites, tent-only sites, a shelter, and 20 cabins. All sites include a picnic table and fireplace. The campground offers extensive recreational opportunities including a freshwater swimming beach on Watchaug Pond, a boat launch ramp, and canoe rentals. Multiple hiking trails connect the campground to the surrounding Burlingame Management Area and the Kimball Wildlife Sanctuary. On-site amenities include a well-stocked camp store, playground, arcade, and modern restroom facilities with flush toilets and hot showers. A dump station is available for RVs. Sites do not have hookups (no electric, water, or sewer), making this a rustic camping experience. The campground can accommodate RVs and trailers with driveway lengths ranging from 24 to 89 feet across various sites. The facility operates seasonally from mid-April through mid-October, with peak season running from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Reservations are available through Reserve America up to 12 months in advance. Note that ongoing restroom construction through the 2026 season has reduced campsite availability to approximately 50% capacity.
