About
Hidden Valley Campground sits in a secluded mountain valley within the George Washington & Jefferson National Forest in Bath County, Virginia. The area earned its name from its hidden, tucked-away character amid the Allegheny Mountains. Vast fields of wildflowers blanket the valley, attracting countless butterflies, birds, and other wildlife throughout the warmer months. The Jackson River winds through the recreation area and is regularly stocked with trout, making this a popular destination for anglers. Movie buffs may recognize the landscape as the filming location for the 1993 film Somersby. A historic antebellum-era mansion, now operated as a bed and breakfast, adds to the area's character. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. Sites include picnic tables, and the campground provides vault toilets and potable drinking water from faucets. Campers can pay on-site via the Recreation.gov Scan and Pay mobile app. Dogs are permitted but must remain on a leash no longer than 6 feet. Bear safety food storage requirements are in effect.
