About
Hidden Lakes Campground sits at 8,900 feet in the Mount Zirkel/Park Range of the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest, offering 9 single campsites near a cluster of small lakes and reservoirs. The campground is 32 miles southwest of Walden and requires a 4WD vehicle for access via Forest Road 20.
Each site includes a fire grate and picnic table, with a vault toilet serving the campground. There is no potable water, and campers must pack out all trash. Maximum trailer length is 50 feet. Non-motorized boating is allowed on the lakes. Due to the mountain pine beetle epidemic, most mature pine trees have been removed, resulting in limited shade.
The area offers excellent opportunities for fishing, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, OHV trails, and wildlife viewing. An equestrian trail is accessible from the campground. Maximum stay is 14 consecutive nights.
Directions
From Walden, head west on Highway 14 for 11 miles to Hebron. Take County Road 24 west through forks with County Roads 5 and 1. After approximately 10 miles the road becomes Forest Road 60 and passes the Grizzly Creek Guard Station at the forest boundary. Go west one mile, then turn left (south) on Forest Road 20, traveling south for 6 miles to the campground. 4WD required.
