About

Granite Campground is a small, primitive campground located at 10,200 feet elevation on the shore of Fish Creek Reservoir in the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest. Managed by the Hahns Peak/Bears Ears Ranger District, this remote site offers 8 campsites split between 4 walk-in tent sites and 4 drive-up sites, providing an intimate high-alpine experience with light usage. The campground provides basic amenities including vault toilets and trash service. Fish Creek Reservoir offers opportunities for fishing and non-motorized boating. The area is surrounded by hiking, biking, and ATV trails, making it an ideal basecamp for exploring the surrounding backcountry. Access requires traveling via Buffalo Pass Road (County Road 38/Forest Road 310), and high clearance vehicles are recommended due to rough road conditions. Camping is first-come, first-served at $10 per night. The remote location and limited facilities make this campground best suited for experienced campers seeking solitude in a pristine mountain setting. There is no potable water available on-site, so visitors must bring their own supply.
