About
Dry Lake Campground is nestled at 8,277 feet in the Rocky Mountains within Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest, approximately 8 miles northeast of Steamboat Springs via Buffalo Pass Road. The campground sits in a mixed forest of aspen, spruce, and subalpine fir, providing excellent access to the trails of the Park Range including connections to the Continental Divide Trail. The campground offers 22 sites including two double sites, with eight available for advance reservation through Recreation.gov and five designated first-come, first-served. Each site includes a picnic table, fire grate, and bear-proof food storage box. Vault toilets and trash services are provided, but there is no potable water so campers must pack in their own supply. Maximum trailer length is 20 feet, making this campground best suited for tent camping and smaller rigs. Summer recreation includes access to numerous hiking and mountain biking trails such as Panorama, Fiddlehead, Flash of Gold, Spring Creek, and BTR. Single-track dirt bike trails and ATV routes are also accessible from the nearby Dry Lake Trailhead. The campground is within reasonable driving distance of Steamboat Springs and the commercially operated Strawberry Park Hot Springs.
Directions
From Steamboat Springs, travel 4 miles north on Routt County Road 36 (Strawberry Park Road), then 3.6 miles east on Routt County Road 38 (Buffalo Pass Road). The campground is located on the north side of the road.
