About

Hick's Park Campground sits at 5,500 feet elevation in the Main Boulder area of the Custer Gallatin National Forest, approximately 25 miles south of Big Timber on US 298 and then 21 miles south on Main Boulder Road. The 12-site campground spans five gentle acres surrounded by forested hills near the town of McLeod. Each site includes fire rings, picnic tables, and access to bear-proof food storage boxes. Vault toilets with handicapped-accessible facilities are provided. Potable water is not available, so campers must bring their own water supply. Trash service is not provided; pack out all refuse. The campground serves as a base for fishing the Boulder River and exploring the nearby Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness. Access is significantly restricted for larger vehicles. The road is not suitable for vehicles longer than 32 feet, there is no turnaround, and travel with a trailer is not recommended south of Hells Canyon.
