About

Hazlett Hollow Campground is one of the most attractive and well-developed campgrounds in the southern Bradshaw Mountains of the Prescott National Forest. The site features remarkable historic stonework walls and walkways built by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the 1930s. The 15 campsites are nestled among ponderosa pines in the Horsethief Basin Area, each equipped with a unique 3-sided wooden camping shelter with a concrete floor, picnic table, and grill. The campground provides two vault toilets (one ADA accessible) and potable water from an outdoor hydrant at nearby Horsethief Cabin during the operating season. This is a pack-it-out facility with no trash service. There are no RV hookups, showers, or dump stations. Maximum vehicle length varies by site from 22 to 40 feet. Access is via unimproved dirt roads, and a high-clearance vehicle is strongly recommended. From Crown King, take FR 259A south to FR 52, then continue southeast approximately 6 miles to reach the campground just northeast of Horsethief Lake.

Directions

From Prescott, take Main St. through Mayer east to Antelope Creek Road junction. Continue southeast approximately 9 miles to Cordes. At Cordes, take Forest Road 259 to Crown King. From Crown King, take FR 259A south 0.5 miles to junction with FR 52, then FR 52 southeast approximately 6 miles to the campground. High-clearance vehicle required on unimproved dirt roads.
