About
Blanche Lake Campground is a primitive dispersed campground situated in the Modoc National Forest, offering visitors a quieter alternative to the nearby Medicine Lake Recreation Area. The campground provides free camping on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservation system. Located at approximately 6,000 feet elevation, the area is surrounded by volcanic landscape characteristic of the Medicine Lake Highlands. The campground has limited facilities, including vault toilets, but no potable water or garbage service. Campers must bring all their own water for drinking, cooking, and extinguishing campfires, and must pack out all trash and waste. The remote location offers light usage and increased solitude for those seeking a more backcountry camping experience while still being accessible by vehicle. Due to its elevation and location, the campground is only accessible seasonally, typically from early July through late October, depending on snow conditions. The 14-day stay limit applies to all sites. Dogs are permitted but must be kept on leash, and owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets.
