Hard Labor Creek State Park is a 5,804-acre state park in Morgan County featuring a diverse range of recreational opportunities in a beautiful wooded Piedmont setting. Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1934 and listed in the National Register of Historic Places, the park combines historic landscapes with modern camping facilities. The campground area includes 51 tent, trailer, and RV campsites with electric and water hookups, with 13 premium sites offering full sewer hookups. There are also 11 tent/pop-up campsites and 2 buddy campsites with multiple hookups. Modern comfort stations with showers and restrooms serve campers throughout the campground. The park offers both pull-through and back-in sites to accommodate various camping setups. Recreational amenities include over 24 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Horse owners have access to a dedicated equestrian campground with 11 sites and 30 stables, plus a riding ring. Lake Rutledge (274 acres) and Lake Brantley (48 acres) offer fishing, boating with a 10-hp limit, and paddling. A seasonal lakeside beach provides swimming during summer months. The Creek Golf Course features an 18-hole championship layout with a pro shop and driving range. Additional facilities include 4 pioneer campgrounds, 2 group camps, group shelters, picnic areas, mini golf, and an event room.
