About
Fort Yargo State Park encompasses 1,816 acres in Barrow County, Georgia, centered around the 260-acre Marbury Creek Reservoir. The park's namesake is a 1792 log blockhouse fort built by settlers for protection against Creek and Cherokee tribes, which still stands as a historic landmark. Camping options range from fully-equipped cottages and glamping yurts to traditional RV/tent sites and primitive walk-in sites offering more seclusion near the water. The campground offers 47 tent/trailer/RV sites equipped with water and electric hookups capable of accommodating rigs up to 50 feet. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring, and grill. Shared facilities include modern restrooms with flush toilets and hot showers, two dump stations, and potable water. Twelve walk-in primitive tent sites provide a more secluded camping experience along the lakefront. Recreational opportunities abound with swimming at the sand beach, two boat ramps, fishing, hiking and mountain biking trails, disc golf, miniature golf, tennis courts, and a playground. The park also features an amphitheater, gift shop, picnic shelters, and a 100-person group shelter. An EV charger is available for electric vehicles.
