Indian Springs State Park stands as one of the oldest state parks in the nation, with a rich history dating back centuries when Creek Indians collected the mineral-rich spring water for its healing qualities. During the 1800s, the area flourished as a bustling resort town, and today visitors can still sample the flowing spring water inside the historic stone Spring House built by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression. The 765-acre park features a 105-acre lake and offers 76 campsites designed to accommodate tents, trailers, and RVs. Most sites are back-in with a few pull-through options available. Sites range from 40 to 60 feet in length, with the largest sites able to handle big rigs up to 60 feet. All RV sites include 30-amp electric and water hookups. The campground is complemented by 10 cottages and a group camp facility. Recreational opportunities abound with wading in Sandy Creek, hiking nature trails, fishing, boating with a convenient boat ramp, paddling with rentals available, and miniature golf. The park's Idlewilde Event Center seats 500 guests, and multiple picnic shelters are available throughout the grounds. A small museum, open seasonally, highlights Creek Indian history, the resort era, and CCC contributions. Park gates are open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, with the office open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The park is conveniently located near I-75 in middle Georgia, making it an accessible destination for both quick getaways and extended stays.

Directions

From Atlanta, take I-75 south to exit #205, turn left, and drive 10 miles to Jackson. Then take HWY 42 south for 5 miles to the park. From Macon, take I-75 north to exit #188, turn left, and drive 15 miles to the park.
