About

Blue Creek campground is a primitive camping area located on the northwest side of Lake Meredith off FM 1913 in the Texas Panhandle. This free campground is particularly popular with off-road vehicle enthusiasts and horseback riders, offering 50 unnumbered, first-come, first-served sites surrounded by cottonwood and soapberry trees. The area provides a rustic camping experience with basic amenities. The campground is designated for off-road vehicle use, but ORV activity is restricted to the creek bed only to protect the surrounding environment. The unpaved roads through the campground may present accessibility challenges for some vehicles, though trailers and RVs can be accommodated at several sites around the area. Campers should be prepared for primitive conditions, as there is no drinking water available on-site and the only restroom facilities are vault toilets. The Texas Panhandle experiences diverse weather conditions throughout the year, with cold, windy winters and hot, dry summers. Wind is common even during summer months, so visitors should come prepared. Campfires are permitted in existing grills and rings only. With no entrance or camping fees, Blue Creek offers an affordable way to experience the natural beauty of Lake Meredith National Recreation Area while enjoying off-road recreation opportunities.
