Hamlin Beach State Park is a flagship New York State Park campground situated on the scenic southern shore of Lake Ontario, about 25 miles west of Rochester. The 264 campsites are distributed across six loops (A through F), each featuring picnic tables, fire rings, and access to modern comfort stations with flush toilets and hot showers. Electric hookups are available at 15, 20, 30, and 50 amp service levels, though no water or sewer hookups exist at individual sites. The park offers excellent recreational opportunities including a sandy Lake Ontario beach with lifeguarded swimming from mid-June through Labor Day, six miles of multi-use trails for hiking and biking, fishing access, and a boat launch. Winter visitors can enjoy snowmobiling and cross-country skiing on designated trails. The campground operates seasonally from mid-May through mid-October with reservations available up to nine months in advance through ReserveAmerica. Note that pets are restricted to Loops A, B, and C only (sites 1-137), with a maximum of two leashed pets per site requiring current rabies certification. The park has undergone significant tree removal due to Emerald Ash Borer damage. Maximum site occupancy is six persons with either two tents or one RV/trailer plus one tent per site.
