Darien Lakes State Park encompasses 1,845 acres of varied terrain in western Genesee County, featuring hills, woodlands, ravines, streams, and the scenic 12-acre Harlow Lake. The park operates primarily as a seasonal campground with 154 campsites divided between 141 electric sites and 13 primitive non-electric sites. All campsites have access to heated comfort stations equipped with showers, providing a comfortable camping experience throughout the season. The park's recreational offerings center around Harlow Lake, which features a sandy swimming beach open from late June through Labor Day. A distinctive rustic bridge connects the mainland to Picnic Island, creating a unique picnic destination. Anglers can fish in Harlow Lake and surrounding streams, while two reservable pavilions accommodate groups of 70 to 140 people. Multiple playgrounds are scattered throughout the park for family enjoyment. Extensive trail systems wind through the park's diverse landscape, offering opportunities for hiking and horseback riding during warmer months. In winter, these multiple-use trails transform into routes for cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. The park also features disc golf and permits hunting for deer and small game during designated seasons. The park is open daily from dawn to dusk year-round, with camping available seasonally from mid-May through mid-October.
