Letchworth State Park

Known as the "Grand Canyon of the East," Letchworth State Park protects 17 miles of the Genesee River as it cuts through a dramatic gorge reaching depths of 550 feet. The Highbanks Camping Area provides 270 electric campsites distributed across multiple loops, each equipped with a picnic table and wood-burning fire pit. Water spigots are located within 125 feet of sites, and each loop has restrooms with hot showers. Electric service ranges from 15 to 50 amps depending on the site. The park offers exceptional recreational opportunities including 66 miles of hiking trails, whitewater rafting, hot air balloon rides, and world-class fall foliage viewing. Three major waterfalls punctuate the gorge, with the 107-foot Middle Falls being the most photographed. The historic Glen Iris Inn, once the home of park benefactor William Pryor Letchworth, overlooks Middle Falls and offers dining. Multiple entrances serve the park: the Perry and Camping entrances on the west side provide direct access to Highbanks Camping Area. Cabins in five different configurations are also available with an extended season from May through late November.
