Gooseneck Cove Boat-in Campground
Open year-round on a first-come, first-served basis. No reservations. Access difficulty varies with Shasta Lake water levels.
About
Gooseneck Cove Boat-In Campground is one of four boat-access-only campgrounds on Shasta Lake, situated on the upper Sacramento arm within the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. This primitive, no-fee campground is very popular among boaters seeking a more remote camping experience away from the developed shoreline facilities. Each site features a fire ring and picnic table, with vault toilets available. Access is exclusively by boat from launch points like the Antlers boat ramp. The difficulty of reaching the campground varies with fluctuating lake levels. The campground sits on a bluff above the lake, and while some sites are near the shoreline, direct water access can be challenging. This is a pack-in, pack-out facility with no potable water, trash service, or other amenities. Campers should bring all water and supplies and be prepared for a primitive backcountry experience. Water can be treated or filtered from nearby lake sources in an emergency.
Directions
Boat access only from the Sacramento Arm of Shasta Lake. The closest USFS boat ramp is Antlers, which has a $17/day launch fee. Navigate up the Sacramento arm to Gooseneck Cove.
