About

Gooseneck Cove Boat-In Campground offers a secluded camping experience on the upper Sacramento arm of Shasta Lake within the Whiskeytown-Shasta-Trinity National Recreation Area. Accessible only by boat, this primitive campground provides 8 campsites set back in a cove, away from the main lake activity. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and fire grill, making it ideal for campers seeking a remote and peaceful getaway. This is a pack it in, pack it out facility with no trash service, and campers must be self-sufficient. Vault toilets are available, but there is no potable water on-site. Visitors should bring their own water or be prepared to treat or filter water from the lake. Lake levels fluctuate throughout the year, which affects access difficulty to the campground. The closest boat launch is at Antlers with a daily launch fee. Gooseneck Cove is popular with boaters, anglers, and those looking to escape developed campgrounds. The surrounding Shasta-Trinity National Forest provides stunning natural beauty with opportunities for swimming, fishing, and exploring the pristine waters of California's largest reservoir. No reservations or fees are required, making it an excellent value for experienced boat campers.
