About

Green Springs Campground is a remote, dispersed camping area nestled in pine forest at 6,000 feet elevation in the Mendocino National Forest. This primitive campground offers six campsites and is particularly popular with equestrians, hunters, and wilderness backpackers. The campground features two horse corrals and a trough fed by a perennial spring, making it an ideal base camp for horseback riders exploring the Yolla Bolly Wilderness. The campground serves as a trailhead connecting to the Summit trail system in the Yolla Bolly Wilderness. However, hikers should note that trails in the Green Springs system are unmarked and can be challenging for inexperienced visitors. The remote location and rough access roads require a high-clearance 4x4 vehicle, accessed via M1 to Espee Ridge Road to M2. As a dispersed, first-come, first-served campground with no fees, Green Springs offers a true backcountry experience. Campers must pack out all trash as no services are provided. The campground is not maintained during winter months and may be inaccessible due to snow and weather conditions.

Directions

Accessible via M1 to Espee Ridge Road to M2. High-clearance 4x4 vehicle recommended due to rough roads.
