Cedar Camp Campground Closure

Cedar Camp Campground is closed for public safety. Closure is in effect.

About

Green Springs Campground is a primitive dispersed camping area located in the remote backcountry of Mendocino National Forest, near the Yolla Bolly Wilderness boundary. The campground sits in a pine forest setting and serves as both a base camp and trailhead for wilderness exploration. Six dispersed sites provide basic camping with fire rings, while vault toilets are available on-site. The campground is particularly popular with equestrian users and hunters. Two corrals and a water trough fed by a natural spring serve horses and pack animals. A trailhead connects to the Summit trail system in the Yolla Bolly Wilderness, though trails are unmarked and recommended for experienced hikers only. Access requires a high-clearance 4x4 vehicle via M1 to Espee Ridge Road to M2. There is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. The campground is not maintained during winter months and may be inaccessible due to snow or road conditions. OHVs are not permitted.

Directions

From Red Bluff, take M1 to Espee Ridge Road to M2. High-clearance 4x4 vehicle recommended. Winter access may be blocked by snow.
