About

Green River Lakes Campground occupies a stunning setting near Lower Green River Lake on the western edge of Wyoming's Wind River Range. At 8,000 feet elevation, the campground offers views of iconic Square Top Mountain (11,581 ft) rising above the lake. Lodgepole pines provide limited shade throughout the 36 single sites and 3 group sites. The area is known for abundant wildlife and summer wildflowers. The campground serves as a premier gateway to the Bridger Wilderness. Trails departing from the nearby trailhead include the Continental Divide Trail, Highline Trail, and Lakeside Trail. A trailhead parking area, horse corral, and water trough accommodate hikers and equestrians. The lake is restricted to small watercraft, making it ideal for canoeing and kayaking, with a primitive carry-down boat launch at the lakeshore. Reaching the campground requires a 50-mile drive from Pinedale, the nearest full-service community. The final 18 miles are unpaved and can become impassable in poor weather without 4WD. Food storage is required due to bear activity in the area.

Directions

From Pinedale, drive 7 miles west on US Highway 191. Turn north onto Wyoming Highway 352 and continue 25 miles to the forest boundary where pavement ends. Continue on the dirt road for 18 miles to the campground. The unpaved road is suitable for 2WD in good weather but may require 4WD in poor conditions.
