About
New Fork Lake Group Campground sits in a grassy meadow surrounded by lodgepole pine trees in Bridger-Teton National Forest, 24 miles north of Pinedale. The large group site accommodates up to 150 people and features large picnic and serving tables, BBQ stands, a fire ring, two bear boxes for food storage, and a double vault toilet. The informal camping area has no defined parking, making it suitable for large gatherings and family affairs. Limited shade is available from surrounding pines. The 1,070-acre New Fork Lake lies a short walk from camp and offers boating, canoeing, swimming, and fishing for kokanee salmon, brook, lake, and rainbow trout. A cement boat ramp is located 1.5 miles from the campground at the lake's northwestern shore. New Fork Trail begins at neighboring Narrows Campground, 2.5 miles away, providing back country access through New Fork Canyon into the Bridger Wilderness. Horse corrals are available at the trailhead. No drinking water is available; campers must treat or filter water from nearby sources. Proper food storage in bear boxes is required. Garbage service is located outside the group site on the main forest road. Pinedale, 24 miles south, is the nearest full-service community.
Directions
From Pinedale, take U.S. Highway 191 northwest 6 miles. Turn north onto State Highway 352 and travel just over 14 miles. Turn east onto New Fork Lake Road (gravel) and travel almost 4 miles to the campground.
