About
The Narrows Campground is situated above New Fork Lake in northwestern Wyoming, at the edge of the Wind River Range and adjacent to the Bridger Wilderness. At an elevation of 7,800 feet, the campground sits in a dense grove of aspens that provide ample shade, with most of the 19 campsites offering scenic lake views. Summer wildflowers carpet the area, and wildlife is abundant around the lake. The campground serves as a gateway to backcountry adventure, with the New Fork Trail beginning at the campground entrance. This trail provides hiking and horseback access through New Fork Canyon into the Bridger Wilderness and connects with several other trails in the area. Horse corrals are available at the trailhead, though livestock is not permitted within the campground itself. New Fork Lake offers excellent recreation opportunities including boating, canoeing, swimming, and fishing for kokanee salmon, brook, lake, and rainbow trout. A large cement boat ramp is located less than one mile from the campground. The campground features single-family sites with picnic tables and campfire rings, two vault toilets, and a campground host. The access road and parking spurs are unpaved native soil. Turnarounds are narrow, making the campground unsuitable for oversized vehicles and trailers. There are no hookups, trash service, or drinking water available. Proper food storage is required due to wildlife activity.
Directions
From Pinedale, take U.S. Highway 191 northwest for 6 miles. Turn north onto State Highway 352 and travel 14 miles. Turn east onto New Fork Lake Road (gravel) and travel 5 miles to the campground. The road is suitable for two-wheel drive vehicles but is rough and weather conditions can affect the road surface.
