Grapevine Campground

Grapevine Campground sits on the north shore of Afterbay Lake in the Montana portion of Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area, just outside Fort Smith. The campground offers 14 sites suitable for both RVs and tents, all featuring fire rings and picnic tables. Every site is ADA accessible, and the vault toilets meet accessibility standards as well. The campground operates year-round on a first-come, first-served basis, though reservations can be made by calling Yellowtail Market. Sites cost $18 per night, with a 50% discount for Senior Pass holders. Payment is by cash or check only, made payable to the Crow Tribe of Indians. Amenities at Grapevine are basic: vault toilets year-round, seasonal trash collection from May through October, and seasonal food storage lockers. Potable water and an RV dump station are not on-site but are available across Afterbay Lake near the park headquarters and Afterbay Campground. Generators are permitted between 8am and 8pm, with quiet hours from 10pm to 6am. Firewood collection is prohibited within the park. Pets must remain leashed at all times.

Directions

Take MT-313 through the town of Fort Smith, MT. Follow the brown and white direction signs. Turn right on Route 12 and drive across the Afterbay Dam. Continue on Route 12 for approximately 1.6 miles. Turn left into Grapevine Campground.
