About

Afterbay Campground occupies a scenic stretch along the tree-lined Afterbay Reservoir, positioned between the 525-foot Yellowtail Dam and Afterbay Dam just upstream of the Bighorn River. The campground offers 22 sites on the south shore, all with fire rings and picnic tables. Full-utility sites include electric and water hookups at $35 per night, while non-utility tent camping sites run $18 per night. The campground operates year-round, though some amenities are seasonal. Potable water, trash collection, and the camp host are available seasonally, while composting vault toilets remain open year-round. An RV dump station is located across the road near the NPS Headquarters building. All sites are back-in only with no pull-through options. The facility is managed by Afterbay Campground Services in collaboration with the Crow Tribe of Indians. Reservations are made by calling Yellowtail Market during business hours, with payment accepted in cash or check only. All sites are ADA accessible, with designated accessible sites at 6, 7, and 19.
