About
Blanding Landing occupies a scenic riverside location in the unglaciated hills of Jo Daviess County, Illinois. Situated on the east bank of the Mississippi River, the campground provides direct access to the river's backwaters, making it a popular destination for anglers targeting channel catfish, walleye, bluegill, crappie, and northern pike. The area is also recognized as a birder's paradise. The campground features 38 grass sites shaded by hardwood trees, with 31 offering 50-amp electrical service and 7 non-electric options. Facilities include a shower building with flush toilets, vault toilets, potable water, and an RV dump station. Each campsite has a fire pit and picnic table. A boat ramp provides easy river access, and a playground is available for families. The nearby town of Galena, just 13 miles north, offers historic architecture (85% of buildings are on the National Register of Historic Places), unique shops, and restaurants. The region's winding country roads through glacially-carved hills make for scenic drives.
