Grandview Shelter 2 is one of five reservable picnic shelters in the historic Grandview area of New River Gorge National Park and Preserve. This larger shelter sits beneath the forest canopy and can accommodate up to 135 people total, with space for 80 inside and 55 outside. The facility includes two electrical outlets and four charcoal grills for group cooking. The shelter is fully ADA accessible via an asphalt walkway designed for handicapped and elderly visitors. Nearby amenities include a drinking fountain with side spigot, playground equipment, and a horseshoe pit. Additional chairs, tables, and canopy tents are permitted. This is a day-use facility only; overnight camping is not allowed. The Grandview area features spectacular overlooks of the New River from 1,400 feet above, five hiking trails, a seasonal visitor center, ranger-led programs, and summer outdoor dramas by Theatre West Virginia. Beckley is approximately 12 miles away with shopping, restaurants, and hotels.

Directions

From Beckley, follow I-64 East five miles to Exit 129B. From Lewisburg, follow I-64 West forty miles to Exit 129. From either exit, turn right and follow Route 9 North six miles to Grandview.
