Grandview Playground Shelter

The Grandview Playground Shelter is the main picnic pavilion at Grandview, one of the most popular day-use areas in New River Gorge National Park. Located just past the amphitheater and closest to the main playground and ball fields, this covered shelter can accommodate up to 200 people, making it ideal for large family reunions, company picnics, and group events. The shelter provides a covered eating area with picnic tables, three charcoal grills for cooking, and six electrical outlets. Restrooms and a drinking fountain are located nearby. The surrounding Grandview area offers five hiking trails, scenic overlooks at 1,400 feet above the New River, a seasonal visitor center (open June through August), playgrounds, a volleyball court, baseball field, and basketball court. Theatre West Virginia presents summer outdoor dramas in the area. This is strictly a day-use facility. No overnight camping is permitted at the shelter. Weddings and wedding receptions require a Special Use Permit. Prohibited items include glitter, confetti, silly string, helium and water balloons, fireworks, loud audio devices, and mechanical rides.

Directions

From Beckley, follow I-64 East five miles to Exit 129B. From Lewisburg, follow I-64 West forty miles to Exit 129. From either exit, turn right and follow Route 9 North six miles to Grandview.
