About

Bull Trout Campground is situated on the scenic shores of Bull Trout Lake in the Boise National Forest at an elevation of 6,900 feet. The campground is nestled in a mixed-growth forest of Douglas fir and lodgepole pine, offering partial shade and abundant summer wildflowers. The 100-acre Bull Trout Lake is reserved for non-motorized watercraft only, making it ideal for peaceful canoeing and kayaking experiences. Anglers can fish from shore or boat for brook and rainbow trout, with a primitive boat ramp located on the west side of the lake. The campground contains 38 sites total, including standard single and double sites, equestrian sites with corrals and large parking spurs, and two group sites that can each accommodate up to 50 people. Some sites are waterfront with direct lake access, while others offer lake views. The facility includes accessible sites and features vault toilets, drinking water, and trash collection. A campground host is on-site during the operating season. Recreation opportunities extend well beyond the lake. Nearby Martin Lake, a 6-acre body of water stocked with rainbow trout, provides additional fishing and canoeing options. The area is a hub for trail activities, with the 11-mile Warm Spring Trail popular among hikers, and the 35-mile Kirkham Ridge Trail open to hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and dirt biking. The campground serves as one of four horse-friendly campgrounds in the Boise National Forest, making it a favored destination for equestrian camping. This is bear country, and visitors should practice proper food storage and bear awareness.
