About

Graham Cabin sits at 5,720 feet elevation adjacent to the Sawtooth Wilderness, offering a true backcountry experience on the North Fork Boise River. This former Forest Service Guard Station provides basic shelter with five twin beds, a wood stove for cooking and heating, and a front porch with picnic table. An airstrip directly across from the cabin allows fly-in guests, while Horse Heaven Trail and other routes within 2 miles serve equestrians and hikers. The cabin has no electricity or potable water, so guests must bring drinking water or filtration, bedding, cookware, and lighting. A vault toilet outhouse is located behind the cabin. Firewood must be gathered on-site for the campfire ring and wood stove. Livestock is permitted, making this a true backcountry equestrian destination. Vehicle access requires a minimum 3-hour drive from Idaho City via extremely rocky Forest Road 312 with steep sections and a river ford. Only high-clearance 4WD vehicles are recommended. The road typically opens mid-July and closes with early fall snow, though the airstrip is generally accessible late May through early October.

Directions

From Idaho City, travel north on Highway 21 for 18 miles to Forest Road 384 at Edna Creek. Turn left and follow FR 384 for 4 miles to FR 312 (Pikes Fork-Graham). Stay on FR 312 for 25 miles to the Graham area. The road becomes steadily rougher beyond Trapper Flat. 4WD high-clearance required to ford the North Fork Boise River at Graham Bridge Campground. Continue past the cabin and airstrip for 1 mile. Minimum 3-hour drive from Idaho City.
