About
Atlanta Cabin is a rustic yet comfortable rental cabin located in the historic mining town of Atlanta, Idaho, at an elevation of 5,800 feet within the Boise National Forest. Built in 1933 by the Civilian Conservation Corps as part of the Atlanta Ranger Station compound, this cabin is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The front porch offers views of 9,363-foot Greylock Mountain and the edge of the Sawtooth Wilderness. The cabin accommodates up to four guests with bunk beds, two single beds, and a foldout couch. Modern amenities include electricity, propane wall heaters, a kitchen with propane stove and refrigerator, hot water sink, and an indoor bathroom with flush toilet, sink, and shower. Outside, there is a picnic table, fire ring, and pedestal grill. Guests must bring their own bedding and linens. No camping, tents, RVs, or motor homes are permitted on site. The area offers exceptional recreation opportunities. The Middle Fork Boise River, about a quarter mile away, provides excellent trout fishing. Several natural hot springs are nearby, including Atlanta, Powerplant, and Chattanooga hot springs. The Middle Fork Boise River Trail and Powerplant Trail offer hiking and horseback riding access. Wildlife watchers may spot mule deer, elk, wild turkeys, eagles, and occasionally black bears or wolves.
