About

Lake Shaftsbury State Park occupies 84 acres surrounding the small but scenic Lake Shaftsbury in southwestern Vermont. Originally a private campground and cabin resort, it became a state park in 1974. The park specializes in group camping, making it ideal for scout troops, family reunions, church groups, and other organizations seeking a rustic outdoor experience. The camping area consists of 15 lean-to shelters organized into three reservable clusters: L01-L06, L07-L11, and L12-L15. Each cluster can accommodate up to 40 people, with the entire group area holding a maximum of 120 campers. Facilities include flush toilets with hot and cold running water, portable toilets near the camping area, and potable drinking water throughout the park. Beyond camping, the park offers a sandy swimming beach, boat rentals including kayaks, canoes, and pedal boats, and a lakeside pavilion with group grills and seating for 100. The Healing Springs Nature Trail provides an easy hike around the lake. A fully furnished waterfront cottage sleeping six is also available for those seeking more comfortable accommodations.
