Gooseberry Falls Campground

Open — Open year-round with reservations available. During winter after heavy snowfall, campground roads are not plowed and only 2-3 sites remain accessible as walk-in/ski-in sites.

About

Gooseberry Falls State Park serves as the gateway to Minnesota's North Shore, renowned for its spectacular Upper, Middle, and Lower Falls along the Gooseberry River. The campground sits within 1,687 acres of mixed forest, offering 70 wooded, non-electric sites suitable for tents and RVs up to 40 feet. Historic log and stone structures built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1933 provide distinctive character throughout the park. The campground provides access to Lake Superior's rocky shoreline and 18 miles of year-round trails winding through aspen, cedar, spruce, and pine forests along the river gorge. Trails connect to both the Superior Hiking Trail and the paved Gitchi-Gami State Trail. The park attracts visitors year-round for hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, and viewing the dramatic waterfalls, which become ice climbing destinations in winter.

Directions

From Two Harbors, Minnesota, drive northeast on State Highway 61 for approximately 13 miles. The park entrance is well-marked on the lakeside of the highway.
