About
The Lake Superior Cart-in Campground at Tettegouche State Park provides a semi-backcountry camping experience along Minnesota's North Shore. The 13 sites are situated near the Lake Superior shoreline, offering dramatic views and a more secluded atmosphere than traditional drive-in camping. Sites are not accessible by motor vehicle but are located within a half mile of parking, and large carts are available at the trailhead to help transport gear. Each site is equipped with a fire ring, picnic table, and tent pad. Campers have access to vault toilets and water. This primitive setup appeals to those seeking a quieter, more immersive experience without a full backcountry commitment. Pets are welcome but must be kept leashed and attended at all times. Tettegouche State Park is located 58 miles northeast of Duluth along Highway 61 and is known for High Falls (Minnesota's second-tallest waterfall), Shovel Point, and Palisade Head. The Superior Hiking Trail passes through the park, connecting the campground to miles of North Shore hiking.
