Fire Danger Level Elevated to "High"

Effective June 12, 2026, fire danger levels have increased to “HIGH” at the Angeles National Forest, which includes the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument. Visit our Newsroom Webpage to read the full press release.

About

Glenn Camp offers a true backcountry experience in the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument within Angeles National Forest. Located at 2,000 feet elevation along the West Fork San Gabriel River, this 10-site campground is accessible only by hiking or biking 7 miles on a road that doubles as a designated National Scenic Bikeway. The campground lies behind a locked gate, giving it a remote and peaceful character. The campground is a popular destination for native trout fishing, with catch-and-keep regulations from the gate to the second bridge and catch-and-release from the second bridge upstream to Cogswell Reservoir. Several accessible fishing platforms are provided. A California fishing license is required. Physically challenged groups may obtain a special permit from the Glendora office to drive directly to the campground. Campers should be prepared with their own drinking water, as only untreated stream water is available on site. A California Campfire Permit is required for any fires or stoves, subject to current fire restriction levels.

Directions

From Interstate 210 in Azusa, exit Azusa Ave. Drive 12 miles north on San Gabriel Canyon Road (Highway 39) to the trailhead at the West Fork of the San Gabriel River. Hike or bike 7 miles behind the locked gate to reach the campground.
