About

Buckhorn Campground offers a forested retreat at 6,800 feet elevation along Angeles Crest Highway (CA-2) in the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument. The campground sits among incense cedars and provides excellent stargazing opportunities away from LA's light pollution. With 38 sites including 3 ADA-accessible options, it serves as a base camp for hikers accessing some of the range's best trails. The campground connects to the Burkhart Trailhead, providing access to the Pacific Crest Trail, Silver Moccasin National Recreation Trail, and High Desert National Recreation Trail. Water recreation is available at Buckhorn Creek, Buckhorn Falls, and the popular Cooper Canyon Falls. Each site includes a picnic table and bear-proof food storage box. Piped water is available via hand pump, and vault toilets are provided throughout. Managed by concessionaire Mountain High, the campground operates seasonally from spring through fall. The 18-foot maximum vehicle length makes this campground unsuitable for large RVs or trailers. Payment is cash, check, or money order only. Interagency Senior and Access pass holders receive a 50% discount on single site fees.
