Peacock Slough

Overview

This campground is a part of Suwannee River Wilderness Trail. The Suwannee River Wilderness Trail stretches 110 miles from White Springs to the town of Suwannee on the Gulf of Mexico. River camps, hubs and state parks are spaced every 10 miles or so, allowing paddlers to explore each site along the way. To plan your adventure, use the paddling guide, map of boat ramps and mileage, or a similar interactive map. Local outfitters can assist with equipment rentals and transportation arrangements. Once your plans are set, be sure to prepare a float plan to leave with someone on land. Five river camps nestled on the riverbanks provide overnight accommodations. Each camp – approximately 10 miles from established parks and campgrounds – features five screened sleeping platforms. Each platform sleeps up to eight people. All river camps also offer primitive campsites, hot showers, restrooms, grills, picnic tables and a picnic pavilion. There is no charge to stay at river camps, which are available on a first come, first served basis. River camps are accessible only from the river or, in some cases, hiking trails. No vehicles are allowed.
